Acadian Ambulance is sending 60 units alongside 40 from texas down there to help evacuate the hospitals. My mom is a medic for acadian and is with a group of medics that is leaving at 6am on a bus to go down there. I hope she will be okay and I hope she can maybe get Sam's mom out of there.

that's awesome......those are the people that need to get out of there the worst.....i'm feeling the worst for the sick and the elderly who just couldn't leave, even if they wanted to.....i bet there's a lot of elderly people in their homes who nobody thought about that didn't make it....

WillisKnighton just sent some ambulances with supplies and Air Rescue helicopters down there to help. I'm happy to say we will also be taking in patients from the hospital in Nola up here in our ICU unit. Our rivalry hospital was going to CHARGE for use of their helicopters. Can you believe that bullshit??? So yes. I'm proud to work for such a generous hospital.

Also... a lot of evacuees are coming into the ER here where I work... and we are "adopting" families as they come in, donating money and items they need for their children and members of families. This is a moving situation up here... they sit down and tell us their horrifying stories....

Acadian is not even running their usual transports...they're only running emergencies because all of the other ambulances have been pulled to go to nola.
